thankful for friendship

For friendship, I give thanks…

This Thanksgiving, and every Thanksgiving, I am reminded of all the people in my life to whom I am thankful. Life has brought me to many cities where new friendships have been cultivated and blossomed into dear loving friends whose remembrance warms my heart.

I am thankful for friends made growing up in Gig Harbor, at WSU, in the Tri Cities working as a young teacher, in Katy, Texas as a newlywed, teacher, and new mother, in Charleston, West Virgina as a young mother and worship leader, in Lake Jackson, Texas as a mother, teacher, actress, and author, to Oberursel, Germany as an expat and tourist.

I am thankful for the encouragement given, selflessness, openness to welcome a new friend into their circle, thoughtfulness from a servant’s heart, generosity, sensitivity, strength to lean on, patience, support during grief,  willingness to listen, constancy and longevity, forgiveness extended, challenges given, and the warmth and kindness extended.

On this day, I am thankful for you, my dear friends, though we may not still be residing in the same city, you have made a home in my heart and there you will stay.

May you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
