WIND IN CHARGE

The wind has found its voice today

whistling through the window

announcing the arrival of fall

It sweeps through the house

brushing a cool kiss

on an unsuspecting cheek

No longer taking a backseat

to the sun’s gentle heat,

the wind seizes control

Teasing the leaves

rumpling the feathers

of the birds nestled in the branches

Toying with crumpled oak leaves

spinning and floating aimlessly

over quarried granite cobblestones

The wind is in charge today

celebrating the change in season

impatient to stir things up a bit

Feel the anticipation…

what might happen

with the wind in charge?
