HAPPY NATIONAL AUTHOR’S DAY!
Happy National Author’s Day! Friends have asked me, “Did you always want to be an author?” “No, never,” I answer, “I wanted to be an actress!” I never thought about becoming an author, but God had other plans for me in this season of life. I began writing poems during covid, during health issues, retirement, after the passing of my mother and dealing with my parents’ estate. All of these events triggered a need to express myself creatively. During the time I was working on my first chapbook, Poems of the Point, my siblings uncovered our grandmother’s poetry in a dusty old box. Who knew our grandmother had been a poet? This was a “God Wink” to me. So, I get to celebrate National Author’s Day today and what an unexpected treat that is! I especially want to thank my grown kids for their encouragement and believing I can do more than I think I can!
